- Measurement to the nearest millimetre and monitoring of distances in the running process
- Colour-independent range
- Simultaneous output of distance value and reflectivity for increased process reliability
Technical Characteristics
The photoelectric distance sensor is a precision optical device designed for industrial positioning and location detection. The device uses red light with a wavelength of 650 nm and has a class 1 protection against laser radiation, which ensures safe operation.
The rectangular housing with an M18 screw (dimensions 61.7 × 22.5 × 45.2 mm, weight 52.06 g) is made of PPSU, ABS, PMMA, PBT / PC materials with an IP65 / IP67 protection rating. The location of the lenses on the sides provides a maximum light spot diameter of up to 5 mm. The sensor is powered by a DC source with a voltage of 10 – 30 V. With a current consumption of 45 mA at 24 V, and has a configurable PNP / NPN electrical circuit with two normally open / closed outputs, each with a maximum load of 100 mA.
The laser on/off input provides external control. The device offers three operating modes: FINE (0.05–2 m, 60 Hz), STD (0.05–2 m, 120 Hz) and FAST (0.05–1 m, 180 Hz) with switching frequencies of 20, 40 and 60 Hz respectively. The adjustment range covers object reflectivity from 6% to 900%, from 6% black paper to 100% white paper.
The IO-Link interface (COM2, 38.4 kbaud, version 1.1.3) provides advanced digital connectivity with a minimum processing cycle time of 5 ms. Process data includes 16-bit distance, 16-bit reflectance, 4-bit device status and 2-bit binary switching information. Extensive programmability includes distance/reflection control, hysteresis/window control, sequential modulation between 5 identical units to prevent mutual interference, and sensitivity. The unit operates in an ambient temperature range of -25°C to 55°C (warm-up time is required below -10°C).
Details
The display system features two yellow LED status indicators and a 4-digit alphanumeric display with 3 control buttons. Competitive advantages include 20 m backpressure, 319 years MTTF for a portable unit, EMC compliance (EN 60947-5-2) and UL certification (E174191, Type 1 enclosure, Class 2 power supply). The various device IDs (OGD250, OGD580/581, OGD582/583, OGD585/586, OGD592/593, OGD596/597) support various intelligent sensor profiles. Device identification, variable data processing, device diagnostics and circuit learning functions. The M12 connector with A-coded connector ensures a reliable electrical connection. Which makes this laser sensor ideal for precise distance measurement and positioning.
